Art Moves Festival On The Road
23-28 September, London, GB
This year our festival went on tour, and we began our project called “Art Moves on the Road”. We believe that the works presented during the festival and the ideas behind our initiatives are worth introducing to the widest audience possible. The first edition of the festival abroad took place in London. We have visited Buckingham Palace, Westminster Palace and Trafalgar Square. The Queen waved us hello and the Prime Minister shook our hands. People in London were delighted with festival’s art works. We encouraged everyone to ask some fundamental questions and find the answers during this edition “on tour”. Are Western societies heading towards self-destruction? Is Western civilisation coming to an end? Aren’t the causes of the ever growing economic crisis much deeper than they seem? Isn’t it also the crisis of our mentality, our ways of understanding ourselves and reality? Isn’t the self-destruction which we witnessed some time ago in London (and other British cities) the symptom of such a “way down”? It seems that instead of finding a recipe for development we found a “recipe for annihilation”. Who is responsible for that situation, who is to blame? “We sought the enemy, and he turned out to be us”. Perhaps we are able to halt the process of self-destruction, after all, it’s all in our hands. “Nothing will work unless you do”.
We exhibited 7 works from the festival on vans, which went round the inner centre of London on a route that passed through Park Lane, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, Parliament Square, Embankment, Kingsway and New Oxford street. Among the artists presenting their works in the exhibition were:
- Marcos Ramirez ERRE/Mexico
- Bob&Roberta Smith/ Great Britain
- Adam Niklewicz/ USA
- Jerzy Kosałka/ Poland
- Andrew Willett/ Great Britain
- Joanna Górska/ Poland
- Rafał Góralski/Poland
